"Origin of the Sun" (Hinomoto) Organic Matcha・Thick Tea/Koicha grade

This is the first organic tea produced by Nippon Cha that is of koicha quality.

The name 'Hi no Moto' 日ノ本 translates to ‘Origin of the Sun’, hence it is also affectionately known as ‘The Big Bang’.

Hinomoto comes from an exquisite organic farm in Krishima, Kagoshima prefecture. It is produced from the Okumidori cultivar and strictly adheres to all requirements of O-Matcha-Matcha.

The purity, salubrity and qi of this tea are beyond compare. There is slightly more bitterness in Hinomoto when compared to koicha grade, conventionally produced teas from Kyoto and Uji. However this astringency provides a sense of clarity as the tea is consumed, and is perfectly balanced by the harmonious bursts of complex, vibrant flavours and silky, refined mouthfeel of this exceptionally high quality tea.
